TO-20 Oil Filter

Posted a question yesterday about the TO-20 I just bought, and got a lot of great feedback. I've got another one:

I can't seem to find an oil filter, at least not for a good price. A few websites (this one included) say the filter is not available online. I found one at a dealership near me, and their website says the part costs $50.

Where are you getting your filters?

Is this the cheapest source you've found? $20 after shipping is more than I'd like to pay, but if that's all there is then I guess it could be worse.

I also see that the part listed on this website says something along the lines of "the gasket that comes with this kit isn't used," then gives another part number for a gasket. Is that the case here as well, or is the gasket that comes with this one correct?

I saw in a video that the original filter had an o-ring on top of it, is this not required anymore?

Thanks in advance for all the help.

Nappa can easily get you a filter Wix 1010 if memory serves. Known good quality. May also fit Germine cars and may be in stock. Gasket- you must reuse, cut your own, or buy one. This web site has them, but shipping cover gasket is (at least when I last called) is 2 X the cost of it. Nappa or any good industrial supply house car get ya a sheet a 3/16 or 1/4 Neapream or cork sheet packing until venders get a handle on postage.

What you're talking about is the gasket between the filter cover and the oil pan, right? Is there any o ring or anything needed between the filter and engine?

MF Gasket # 1750269M1 for TO20 was available from MF dealer fairly recently.
The aftermarket also sells them under same part #.

The WIX 51010 is not the correct filter That is for an 8N. It may sort of work, but is not correct. It is what was in mine when I bought it. Thw Baldwin P40 is the corredct one. On Amazon for less than $15.

The Baldwin P-40 cross references to a NAPA 1010 and Wix 51010. l have one in TO-20 and it works just fine. The controversy is the direction of oil flow between the Fords and the Continental engines. However the Wix and NAPA filters have a screen material around the outside so there is no problem using them. Besides if he orders one from Amazon he still has to pay shipping unless he is a Prime member of course.

They are not the same filter. I have looked at both side by side. But use whatever filter you like. I personally will use the P40.

Per Baldwin catalog 2005-2006 P40 is correct for Ford 8N.
Per Baldwin Catalog 2005-2006 T44M is correct for Ferguson.
Way back when MF was selling T44M in MF cartons with MF part numbers.
I have also used Fram C153, 20 still available at the jungle store.
I have also used Wix 1107 for many years.
I wonder if the current P40 is made differently from the old P40 so it can safely replace T44M?

The reason I think the Baldwin P40 is correct and the Wix 51010 isn't is because the P40 has the rubber seals top and bottom and the Wix doesn't. So much confusion on the correct filter I now think I'm confused too-haha

I noticed the same thing. I read on another thread someone saying that the seals inside the holes of the 51010 serve the same function.

Finished up with the oil change last night. The filter I pulled out doesn't seem to have any seals on it, and was a little smaller in diameter. The new one (NAPA 1010) has seals on the ID of the holes, and seemed a little taller. It seemed to fit fine.

Filled it up with some 20w50 and had 20psi oil pressure at idle
