New to me Fergeson TO35 with issues #2

My first post turned into a novel so I decided to make another post for my second issue. My other problem is the low speed shifter spins in the case. The shifter is pinned to the round sleeve that goes into the case but the round sleeve is loose up and down and can spin around. The low speed shifter goes into gear and neutral even when cocked to the side. The only way I can see to look at this and fix it is to remove the shifter top plate with steering. Just looking for advise before I start taking things apart
Thanks, Mike

Thanks for the pictures. In the parts breakdown #13 is the culprit. I don't see how it't secured. Mine is loose and spins around. I guess I'll be taking the top off.

Well I pulled the top off of the transmission and I see nothing that secures the low speed shifter tower. I've decide it's a press fit and many years ago it got pushed into the transmission and has rattled around ever since wearing it down so it's no longer a press fit. I peened the outer surface of the tower where it fits into the case with a center punch and also the case untill it's a tight fit. Cleaned it up good and added some JB Weld for insurance and tapped it back in. Put the top back onto the trans and everything seems to shift well. Now on to my clutch problem.

I bought a MF35 that something must have fell on the shifters because they were pushed down making it hard to shift. I pounded them back up and they have been good, but as you said I think they are just a press fit. I would have done what you did as well to fix your issue.

Thank you for for confirming my theory. I also thought something must have fallen on the shifter driving the shifter housing down. Mine was so loose there was no way it was staying in place.
Thanks, Mike
