New to me Fergeson TO35 issues

Thank for letting me join. I just bought a 54 to 57 Fergeson TO 35 near as I can tell because the Id plate is missing. Over 10 years ago it had a 3 to 4000.00 overhaul (according to the owners daughter) it was only driven around the yard a few times after and it's been sitting for 8 years. I've gotten it running and it runs very well with a couple of issues. The clutch is very hard to push, once you get it depressed you put it in gear you take your foot off the clutch and wait. It slowly engages and the tractor moves. After some reading I pulled the starter and Blindly sprayed brake kleen on the clutch side of the flywheel and it freed it up and drove the rest of the day fine. Next day hard to press again. This time I looked up the inspection plate hole, hard to see because of the brake cross shaft but everything is very clean not caked with oil. I again sprayed brake kleen the best I could and it freed up again for the day but is again stiff. The pedal shaft is not sticky as you and lift it up and down at will while the clutch is waiting to engage. Only place I can see it can be sticking is the throw out bearing on the trans input sleeve or the fingers of the clutch. Sorry about the novel but I wanted to get as much info as I know out there.
Thanks, Mike

I'm not a TO-35 owner, but it sounds like the clutch disk is sticking to the splines probably due to rust. You could try spraying some vinegar in there through the inspection hole? Maybe that will help dissolve the rust. Be careful about trying to lubricate the splines, you don't want to get any lubricant on the clutch.

Cannot help you on the tractor BUT DONT WORY about length of
your post. Usually longer is better as it actually tells us
what your problem is. Too many posters think we can read
their mind and know what they are talking about because they
leave out important information as to what they actually want
information about.

Dont have a TO-35, but I split my TO 30 just after I first bought it because the seal on the trans end blew out and hydraulic fluid kept fouling out the starter. I found that performing the tractor split, and I'm no great mechanic (more of a good parts replacer) was actually a good way of getting to know my Fergie, and was actually a pleasure - because these machines are so rudimentary. When you work on them everything seems to make sense, like this is the way it should have been made...ya know what I mean?
So anyway, while I was in the neighborhood, I replaced the clutch. It wasnt that expensive or hard to do, and everything made perfect sense...not like today's vehicles. So I guess what I'm getting at is dont fear a tractor split if you feel you need to replace that clutch. Enclosed a pic of Fergie- dont judge is a working tractor...I made the face out of mortar, and the fuel cell is off my F-150 Ha!
