I had to remove and repair the throttle control on a Ferguson TO-30. I have a IT manual and I watched a
You-Tube video on adjusting the governor, but I still can not get it adjusted right. If I get it to idle
down then the engine will not get enough high rpm's. If I get enough high rpm's then it will not idle
down enough. What am I doing wrong?

Hi, I have the same IT manual and have used it to correctly setup the throttle. Follow the full instructions on the setup and you will have success. If the engine runs and idles correctly the rest of the job is just the geometry of the throttle Governor setup.

.

Bundy Bears YouTube channel does an episode setting the governor.
Useful channel for many other Ferguson projects. Helped me on several.

I ve fought with enough of these to feel your pain! First off, why did you have to repair the throttle? It doesn t take much adjustment to knock the linkage out of whack. However,if your governor itself initially failed then you might be trying to adjust the linkage for nothing. Follow your IT manual step by step, then report back and let us know what you find.

The tractor was sitting outside behind a barn for 20-25 years. Everything on the tractor was tight, the 3-pt leveling arm, the steering-steer box bearing, steering
spindles, clutch was stuck and the throttle control for the governor. The governor set pin on the left side of the motor was broke and the governor control arm was
tied to the generator bracket.
I am have finally got the governor set late this afternoon after I made a new control arm from the carburetor to the governor and replaced the governor spring from
a parts tractor that I had.
