Fordson Dexta local to me. $1200. It starts with no ether. Perkins diesel. Lift works good. Comes with blade and bush hog. I sure don't need another tractor, but gosh darnnit. I'm 68. What else am I gonna do with my life? haha

Has the seller still got his hand??? They are a brilliant little tractor but please, it is NOT
a Perkins engine. It was assembled by Perkins but Ford produced the original design and made
most of the parts at the Dagenham factory. Perkins never used Simms injection pumps and
injectors. Some Perkins parts will fit after modification.

Check for a crack in the block behind the injection pump up high near where the head gasket
goes, any frost damage will show here. The area cannot be drained so run antifreeze at all
times. Another weak point is the gear shift, the bottoms wear off the gear sticks and they
jump out of the selectors. Four bolts and a screw driver gets them back in about 10 minutes
and the bottom of the gear sticks can be built up with weld and ground down to fit.

I have a 1960 one with a petrol engine and it is as handy as a pocket on a shirt. :0)

I guess I don't understand the part about the seller still having his hand?
Interesting about the Not-Perkins engine. Did some reading after your post and found the story behind the Ford/Perkins engine. How reliable is this Ford diesel other than the freezing-cracking issue? I'm in Florida but this tractor could have been many places before it ended up here.

We have a saying If it is a good deal you should bite his hand off.

That engine is bullet proof, the only problem is, like all diesels, it should be either at work
or switched off, light work or a lot of ticking over will cause it to slobber oil out of the
exhaust. I have worked on Fordson tractors since the 1960's. They are simple and easy to work on
so I would never be afraid to own any Dexta.

Well, it appears I am third on the list to come look at it. The seller responded to me this way. "I have on man coming Friday to look at it. Another man will be here Saturday to look at it. If one of those two don't buy it, I will call you back to schedule a day for you to come look at it. I have your number now."
Most people are "First one with the cash gets it" This man is scheduling appointments. He lives just down the road about 10 miles from me. We talked on the phone for about 20 minutes about tractors in general. Seems like a very nice person. I'm hoping I get that call back. Already have my trailer ready to go get it!!!

Heard that before ! Ill call you back ! Thunder .I call them back and oh I sold , I thought you were the guy that called came and got it.
Go down there ,is this tractor for sale today ? Heres my offer Take or leave it.
