Clutch and PTO

Can anyone help me in finding out what type of clutch is used on this tractor? The problem is, when I push in the clutch the PTO won't stop. So i'm not sure what is needed to fix this problem. The tractor does stop when pushing in the clutch but PTO wont stop. Is there a double clutch that is used? An by any chance any part number for a clutch and where to get one? on the white strip going across the hood said 3610 if its any help.

Thanks

Sounds like you have a dual clutch, two ways to find out,

1. On your Hi/Low lever is High up and Low down? If so you have a dual clutch.

2. Look under the footplate on the clutch side, there could be a bracket around the clutch
pedal and, about 1 1/2 from the bottom there may be a pin across it restricting the travel.
Remove this pin and that should allow the clutch pedal to travel further, so allowing the PTO
clutch to disengage.

When you are not using the PTO, replace the pin, this will give you Live Hydraulics that will
not keep stopping as you change gears. It will also reduce wear on the clutch linkage.

On a Major, the PTO must be engaged to drive the hydraulic pump.

Also, the PTO clutch may be stuck to the plate, if so, put a load like a brush hog on the PTO,
block the clutch down and let the brush hog run at tick over. The uneven running should break
it away. Done that many times.

Sorry. I,v tried several times to upload the pictures with no success. I got the pics on to this page but cant get them to stay. From what i know and can see, the tractor has a high and low for the 3 speed trans. On the front of the tractor it says live takeoff, live hydraulics. It has a 3 cylinder perkins diesel engine. The clutch pedal does go all the way down. If it does have a dual clutch. Got any idea where i could get one and what the part number would be?

Sounds like you have one of the Dexta range. First, it is not a Perkins Diesel, it was made by Ford and assembled by Perkins. There are many differences and, although some Perkins parts may fit, a lot will not.

Your clutch will be like the one in the previous picture with a pin you have to move into the rear hole to get the PTO to stop. This increases the movement of the clutch pedal to engage with the clutch fingers on the pressure plate. It makes your leg ache and increase the wear in the linkage if you leave it in the rear hole.

Have you tried the implement on the PTO suggestion? New clutches are available and not too expensive. You get the complete clutch already set up and it is just a case of changing a couple of bearings and bolting the unit to the flywheel.

Thought I had posted this picture, Sorry. This is the pin to move in the clutch clevis. Front hole just stops the tractor, rear hole stops the tractor and when the clutch is fully down, stops the PTO and hydraulics.

Thanks for the pics, an all the info. I'll try switching the pin an see how it works. if so that would be wonderful. If not and i need a new clutch assy. Do you have P/N an where i can get it?

I switched holes on the end of the clutch rod and it works!!!!! I cant believe all these years of not being able to use the pto, can finally work. I0 am beyond happy. Thank you so very very much
Majorman. We had the tractor rebuilt in 2000 and was just using a rear blade, we go a 7ft rear finnish mower for it and was never able to use it. Again thank you for all the info.

Glad to know you are all sorted and it was the easy option. I still get moments like that after
driving, working on and owning tractors since the age of 10 which is 70 years ago, you never stop
learning or being surprised by them.

Brian.
