The original subject was Case J44 mower deck.
I would suggest to use a slide hammer to pull the spindles , just bolt the puller yoke to the flat part that holds the blade , will need washers to get above weld ,there are keys in both pulley , my center spindle had the large nuts on top like the other 2 . yours may have been jury rigged ,with retro pulley , remove both pulley , and remove keys , then slide hammer that spindle out , you will not damage spindle threads this way , that spacer under the top pulley looks like the spacer that goes between the bearings ?
