Plow packers

I would like to pull a packer behind my rollover plow not sure just how to hook it on and still be able to turn at the ends and roll the plow . I see guys pulling packers behind two way plows with just a chain maybe thats the best way

I believe they had a piece of pipe with a big shaft inside it so it would turn all the way around, then the hitch pieces were welded to the shaft. There'd be a collar welded on the back of the shaft to keep it from pulling out of the pipe.

I did a really quick search and can't find it, but I'm sure if you do some googling you'll have more luck: There's a great video of a Kuhn rollover with one of their packers. It shows the hitch mechanism they use in pretty good detail. If I remember right, it's built such that it releases when you raise the plow all the way at the end of a run, then reattaches on the other side when you come back with the plow flipped. It was a pretty slick setup from what I remember.

weld an arm to pull the packer off to the side, over the freshly plowed earth. Then hook a chain between the two.I've plowed many an acre like that pulling a single section spike tooth harrow. When you get to the end, leave enough room to turn without tieing everything up into a 'knot'.Beware, that packer will pull like another bottom has been added to your plow.

I've seen that too. But,that's an expencive way to do it.A 12 ft length on 1/4 'log chain' did the job well. And it was CHEAP as I already had it.
