I am looking at the power steering pump on the 1085, someone installed a plastic plug in place of the steel plug on the reservoir that is part of the pump. The AGCO parts book shows a straight thread plug with an o-ring for sealing. I plan on installing a steel plug in the reservoir.

It seems to me that the system should have a vent somewhere, but I cannot find it in the AGCO parts book. Also, the plug is lower than the rest of the system, so the plug on the reservoir should not be a vent. Is there supposed to be a vent?

Thanks
Rich

I agree, but it seems like they there should be a vent somewhere to allow for expansion of the fluid and to allow air to escape.

Some cans could be turned on the pump to raise or lower the oil level, long as level is just above the center bolt on the can is usually enough. You dont want the can too full, air will compress, oil will not.
