MM G 1950 I cannot find an oil filter for this machine

Hey, I know this question has been asked before, but none of the filter part#'s in the old posts are valid or available to me.

I recently acquired a 1950's MM model G with the 403A gas engine. It has a large cartridge filter on the left side of the motor, the previous owner had never changed the oil! Because he could not find a filter for it. I think it's pretty important that I at least change the oil. However, I have had zero luck finding a filter, despite hours of online research and phone calls. I've called every dealer in town with multiple part #'s, and they are all not available.

I would be happy with anything that is functional, it is a yard tractor used for plowing (it has a loader) and chores and not a museum piece.

Thanks!

This is in a different county, do you know if they ship internationally? They don't seem to have a website.

My Information shows the MM GB has the same engine??? The part number for the oil filter is AT213, which subs up to 674124AS. Shows to be a cartridge. This part number is
still available from Agco. What country are you in? Wayne

I'm fairly sure it should be this filter or it's derivatives, but I'm unable to source it.

But I am unable to find a source for it.

The original filter type has been discontinued, you can get an adapter to convert it to a spin on. My friend Kerry Deboer sells the adapter reasonably and gives you the NAPA filter number. 815-275-1731r

I'd be quite surprised if Welters didn't ship internationally. I do not know their source for filters.
I'd also be surprised if Henry Leasing in Bakersfield, California didn't ship internationally. They have their KE-5905's built in Mexico for them and they fit like they should.
Ask both for a KE-5905 filter.
1929 until oh goodness who knows for the TC/MM built Purolator filter housings..
If you can get an oil filter for an M Farmall where you are, you can modify it to suit. Fleetguard LF-584. Repeat modify. I have one in my 1950 UTS.
A Wix 51172 can be modified to suit. Again modify.

Here ya go Rich. :)
Easy and cheap modification in a pinch. Try not to throw up/let the flogging begin.
This was titled The Butcher elsewhere. Left to right. LF-584.
The bottom of the oil filter fits perfectly on the stepped nut or butts up against the regular nut.
If you re really OCD, you could machine a ring to keep the filter bottom centered.
Go at the small top with a tin-snips (where are the good snips when ya need em), put a Twin City 11/16 hold-down bolt/Central Outlet Tube in the vice, center the small end of the filter on the Tube, using a 3/4 or larger socket tap the socket down and start to draw the filter top around the bolt/Tube.
A little clean up with a nipper/side cutter too. No hack saw or file chips! Yuck.
Once fully thru, I took it to the back of the vice and tapped the ears of the top around the tube/bolt a little nicer with a small hammer.
A decent radius on the top surface of the filter if you use a big enough socket etc. A 1-1/4" long piece of 3/4" heater hose seals the deal.
The hose clamp and hose against the "nut" will hold the filter in place so it can t float. The "nut" will actually get inside the hose snugly.

The Wix 51172 is easier and prettier. Remove the sealing ring from the top and work the outlet tube thru the top hole like the 584 with a socket etc.
A piece of hose and a clamp is needed here also. That s a small filter but in a pinch, it ll keep you going.

Will the heater hose degrade in the oil? I believe it will over time so that gets replaced at oil changes if need be.
A cut piece of 3/4 hydraulic hose would do it also and last longer. Didn t have any or a cutter to define lengths.
I also have a Biler filter adapter and a big $20 NAPA spin on cartridge on another engine. Works good.

Very pretty filters guys! It'd be tough to use one now. Thank you for the confirmation Jack!
GB, would you elaborate a little about the Massey #1013-890-M1 filter please?
I cant find it.
Hymie and Timmy, the filter numbers shown, like the P-40 when they actually tell you dimensions are only about 1/2" ID on the hold down bolt.
I should drop this subject but I'd like to know.
Thank you.
