The Zane Thang

When I rolled my own to satisfy my curiosity I made several extras for local sales are for install's in my shop. There is not much to it other than material and time. Like anything else as the prototype evolved you learned how to do the process more efficient and neat.
You figure out what parts can be used with little to no modifications. There not not much high tech to it and the configuration is not etched in stone. It does work great and very well worth what others charge for it.

I would sale one of my clobbered up units for $100 and include shipping are more than happy to share how I made it. It would be a money/time looser if I had not picked up used material thru the years.

Hobo,NC Thanks for the offer, but I ordered one (or at least their version of it) from RedRock. It should arrive in a few days. We'll see how it goes. Ray

Good afternoon: Time for a small confession; I bought a Zane Thang years ago from Mr. Zane. I have had it on my 9N ever since. I have forgotten what made me buy it, possibly when I got a box-blade. Holding the blade to a steady depth would be important, you would not wanting it going up and down as the load changed.

(quoted from post at 19:27:49 03/29/23) Cool let us know how it works.
The position control device showed up from RedRock Manufacturing. Pretty simple little thing. I installed it on the 9n in about 20 minutes. Works good. Holds position where ever you set it. A little pricey at $125, but it does solve the problem. Ray

I thought the Zane thing was a tool for making adjustments.

I believe he also made the "Live Thang" to give an 8N live hydraulics. It included a small hydraulic pump driven off the crankshaft and lines running to the hydraulic cover and hydraulic sump. You could also get a remote valve for an extra fee. The kit was bolt on (not cutting or damaging existing parts) and could be removed allowing your 8N to revert to prior conversion state.
