1947 Ford 8N front tire size

I need to replace the front tires. The
tractor came with two different truck
tires. Best I can tell it's 16 rims but
not sure if 6 x or 5.5 width. I can't read
anything as they have been on many moons.
What's the best way to tell without
removing the tire or is there?

I figured out it has a 20570R15 on one side so apparently I was wrong. It's a 15 rim. So 5.5 or 6 x15 or does it matter?

This is confusing because everything I find information wise shows it either came with a 4x19 standard or a 6x16 optional tires and rims.

16's were standard (other than the skinny old 19"s) One of the most popular small tractor wheels. Tons of them around

I owned a farm tire shop for 22 years. The size we saw for 16 inch rims was a 6:00 X 16. I can't remember a 15 inch rim on a ford. It has to be a car rim that fit on your ford.

Yes, 4 x 19 tires on 3 x 19 rims were standard on all N's and beginning with the 8N offered 5.50 x 16 and 6.00 x 16 as optional for use with a FEL. The original rims were riveted on, later changed to a welded assembly. They also had the FORD script and Kelsey-Hayes logos stamped near the bolt hole pattern. 16 became standard issue with the NAA. That information is right in the MPC's. 15 were offered on implements. BUT, you could use any of these on your tractor. When I restored my Dearborn Wagon, MPC said 15 was standard and it came with 15 rims so I bought new 6.70 X 15 Firestone Farm/Rib Implement tires on it. I bought some 16 Firestone Guide Grip style reproduction tires and added the front 2-pc weights for use on my working 8N. KELSEY-HAYES made all the original wheels for FORD including the 9 x 28 Hat Rims.

FYI: When I first bought my tractor the front wheels were a little smaller. The PO had installed a smaller set of "utility wheels" because the bolt pattern was the same as the 8N. Since then I have replaced the wheels and tires to the correct 16" size.
