White 2-105 Oil Leaks

Got a 78 2-105 that's in the shop for a few
minor fixes right now. The turbo stared
leaking oil over the winter, and the best
quote I've found to rebuild it was almost
1k. Do any of you know where to look to
find something more budget friendly? I
found one on turbochargers direct, but at a
hair over $400 I question it's quality.

I also had a little oil leaking from the
exhaust ports. I don't have time to pull
the head right now, but I am still curious
about what would causes could be.

Additionally, it seems there is some
leakage from the hydraulic pump. Another
one of those things that I don't have time
to screw with right now, but would like
some pointers on where to start looking.

Lastly, if anyone has advice on redoing the
pto unit I would appreciate it. Already
have it apart, just waiting on parts.

Thanks for reading

I don't know where your located, so this is just an assumption that your in cold weather for the past few months. Are you certain that it's actually oil leaking from the exhaust ports and not fuel? As in wet stacking? Could also be what is leaking from your turbo as well. Pretty common when it's cold and not worked very hard. Lots of idle time. Could be low compression, bad injectors or combination of both. Is it a good starting tractor? As for the turbo, if you have someone reputable near you that can rebuild it, I guess that's the route I would go. Around here DCI rebuilt mine, seals and bearings, a good cleaning and it relatively cheap considering. Hydraulic pump leak, could be a line, best to clean it good and then pinpoint the exact location of the leak.

I'm with you on checking the pump for leaks if he hasn't already done it. My 105 developed a leak in the remote valve a few years ago. I thought for sure it was leaking between the valve and rear end housing. When I cleaned things up, I found it was one of the elbows to the remote hose. They're an o ring fitting. I tightened the nut on it and that did it.

It started leaking down the top of the axle housing again, so I got under there with a wrench to check it again, but all four were tight. When I wiped things off and looked with it running, I discovered there's another elbow with an o ring fitting coming out the front of it to a steel line. I tightened that one up and the leak stopped.
