2-105 engine removal

Good morning all
I was reading on here and watching videos of removing the engine from a 2-105. The frame rails curve in just in front of the rear motor mounts making it hard to move the engine forward very far, requiring the cab to be lifted and the fuel tank removed to get the engine out. It is my understanding that there was a change made to the frame rails mid-way through production that made both rails straight instead of curving in. I confirmed this by looking at my 1981 2-105 and it has straight rails. I was wondering if anyone has removed the engine from a straight rail 2-105 and if the fuel tank still needs to be removed and also if the cab still needs to be lifted.
Thanks

That's something else I didn't know. My 82 2-135 curves so the bell housing won't come ahead very far. I thought they did that to keep the mounting pads kind of standardized, but I guess at some point they must have figured it wasn't necessary anymore.

According to the parts book, serial 297447 and later had a different front main frame and different front motor mounts. Only pictures one frame so can't tell what the difference is.

If you have to remove the tank, simply remove the front tank support from the rear of the engine, lower the front of the tank and at that angle it should come out with no room to spare, but it will come out.the unit will not move forward much before it must come up.
