On point agronomy

I was planting, made my turn and just as I went to drop the planter, I had no steering and no hydraulics to the planter, 3 pt or steering. Checked with a local guy and we determined I had a self regulating bypass valve, so I replaced it with a "spring and shim" style bypass valve. Immediately I had steering, so I drove the tractor about 1/4 mile down the road and steering quit again. Now the 3 pt work and it sounds like remotes work (I disconnected planter and hooked to another tractor to finish planting). The steering worked intermittently for a few laps around the yard, now nothing. Removed and cleaned bi directional valve and even tried another one. No pressure up to the steering motor. This is a 1967 1850 with Perkins diesel and over/under. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
