880 with a square front??????

I have a friend that has a 880 with the front end squared off. I'm talking about the part under the grill being square rather than semi round. He says it is a straight 880 but I was thinking the supers were squared off. But not the straight 880s. Sorry I don't have any pics. Thanks Gerald

You are talking about the flat mounting pad on front of the frame? They were standardized on the Super series and as far as I know, all the 770/880 tractors had them as well. I've never heard them referred to as a "straight" anything. It's where the front weights were mounted.

When you say straight 880, do you mean straight 88, as in Fleetline 88? They would have had a rounded frame as opposed to having the mounting pads, yes.

I've only seen squared frame fronts on 4-digits. Is it even possible to knock together a 4-digit tub and front axle with 880 rear and sheet metal?
