Crazy gophers

Any idea on how to get rid of gophers? I have heard of putting chewing gum down in the holes, along with taking a water hose and sticking it down the hole and shoot whatever comes out.

I have had real good luck getting them to go and stay away.
I bought a small windmill out of the back of a farm magazine that is made to drive them away. It has a BB inside that rattles the slightest bit . It must drive them crazy as they DO leave and stay away. I am not a big fan of such gadgets but my wife saw it and got the first one. Danged if it doesn't Work!! I bought a second one for a different area and it works too!
Good products!

We used to shoot them with .22's . Fun afternoon shooting gophers, some places even paid for dead ones . My dad and uncles were a bit more extreme . They'd put 1/4 stick of dynomite by some holes and wait till gopher appeared , then quick shot with .22 would set the charge off ! Fun yes,,,overkill ,,yes ! Those were the days ! lol

We had the gophers of the northeast, Woodchucks. They were handy for keeping the .300 Savages,.308 Winchesters and 30-40 Kraigs sighted in. Later we had 2 dobermans "the sisters" (they were sisters). They didn't need to be told to go hunting. Dad would "trade" them a soup bone each when they brought him a fresh kill. Even the neighbor's fields were chuck free.

1/4 cup powdered sulpher in the hole and a propane blow torch for 1 minute. hard on any plants nearby and watch for fire with dry grass. I use it during the late fall and spring....James

From looking at the reviews, its about half and half, either the windmills work and run off burrowing rodents, or they don't.

i use poison peanuts or mole-nots. ace hardware sells mole nots , the are in kind of an upside down ice cream cone shaped container, put a teaspoon full way down in the gopher hole, works good.

I really like the rodenator thats cool. Just the price is pretty steep :(. I think i will give the water and 22 a try. Maybe fire off a bunch of the 12 awg dove shot i have too.

Plain old poison corn, if you can get it anymore. If not that, poison peanuts.

I had a gopher infestation this summer and I started out with pouring water down the holes and letting the dog have fun catching them. Then they really got thick so I dug out an old box of poison corn that must be fifty years old, threw some down every hole I could find, and the gophers disappeared. I walked past one of the holes a couple of days later and there was a dead smell around it. Jim
