Menards poly culverts any good???

All this rain just took out part of my driveway. 15" steel culvert has failed where two pieces join together, right in the middle of the road. Not sure if the band is bad or the ends of the pipes. Just curious if anyone has used the poly culverts from Menards and if they hold up?? I'm looking at the double wall ones that are smooth on the inside. The weakest part looks like the plastic splicer band. I need 2 - 20 footers to make 40'.

Thanks.

That's all we use anymore, the plastic with the liner.Never bought any at menards the factory that makes them is only 20 miles from me.I put in a 20ft 10 inch last week.It cost 90 bucks. The last metal one i put in only lasted 10 years.

Used the ADS pipe for years at work, under roads. The pipes we used had a male and female coupling with a gasket/o ring. Back fill with pea gravel half way up the pipe and the the rest of the way with 2A.

The pea gravel will settle around all the corrigations of the pipe.

As per the manufactures instructions.

I work for a Township and we like to extend the culverts out away from the edge of the road and the poly ones will curl up after time from the sun. The only way is to pour cement over the pipe to keep it from curling. JMO but I would go with steel ones. As far as that goes if the culvert is still good and the band is bad I would get a new band and put the old one back in.

I have used them for about 20 years. As long as you get a reasonable fill over them, they will last forever. Thats better than metal. Another advantage is that one man can handle them.

The culvert (sluce pipe) made by ADS (used to be Hancor), Is made across the street from where I work in Waverly. I extended the 12" steel sluce pipe (3/8" wall well casing) under a section of my driveway with a 20' piece from Hancor about 15 years ago, picked it up at the factory. It's had tractors, backhoes and big trucks across it regularly, even a Cat 966 on a couple occasions. I looked in it about 2 weeks ago with a spotlight due to some perticularly heavy runoff and it looked as good (and not built up) as the day I put it in.

I have repaired a few culvert joints by taking a
used oit drum either metal or plastic - cutting
both ends off and slicing it open length wise
and using part of it as a cover over the splce.
It may help you avoid replacing the whole
thing.

I have to replace culvert along state hiway. Got a permit to go ahead, I can use a poly culvert. State said to use 18 inch.
