I am in Eastern Iowa, we have gone from dry to wet. I asked for rain and we got it, but it is better than drought. Our weather is still OK, so I feel for the ones that have had the extremes.

Wet weather arrived over nite in Central Ohio...

Plenty thunder and heavy rain since about 3 AM..

Certainly needed it, too...

Surprising how much the ground dried/cracked..
We had been so wet all spring, didn't seem it could dry-up that bad already..!
Had some cracks nearly an inch wide..!!

Here is S.E. Texas (Hardin County) we are in a sever draught and the pine forests are tinder dry. We have had 3 large forest fires in the past week, burned approx. 4000 acres. Through heroic efforts by local VFD"s and State Forestry Agency no houses have been lost. WE NEED RAIN BAD!

I started to plant my garden finally and I am digging it out of old sod.

The first day when I planted the rest of my potatoes it was okay but next day when I started on my sweet corn the dirt was extremely hard to turn over. My shovel was starting to scour like a plow share.

In my family"s fields they had I guess chisel plowed the corn stubble under on a day we recieved 3 inches of snow last December - because of the rain they finally got in about 10 days ago to disk the ground up and then they disk/spike toothed it tuesday and planted tuesday.

I used my shovel to see just how far down the soil was loose - three inches. Probably enough for germination, but I question the wisdom of chisel plowing the fields like they did. The dirt was like concrete though I did seem to notice less erosion in the fields.

Ya last month here in Missouri we where getting rain about every other day then when we got into June we have not had any and June is or should be our wettest month of the year. Been having to water the garden about every other day since the 1st of June but the weather guessers are saying maybe rain for the next week

Send it to the mid-atlantic area as we could use several inches. My lawn and garden need it. Hal

Please send it Az. way if your getting too much, we could use it in the valley as well as the mountains as we are having too many wild fires.
this place is burning up
