small backhoe question

Any one know anything about Davis backhoe attachments? Or a Kelly'30'? good? bad? junk? I want one on the back of my Cockshutt industrial, or on my MF industrial, using the front pump of whichever it will be.

with all your loot you have stashed away you could buy yourself a brand new 410 john deere backhoe. then you can plow snow for all your nabors for free.just think how much they would admire you after that. :D

When I was looking for a backhoe, I was told that 3 pt aftermarket hoes will cost you an arm and leg to operate. Perhaps you should ask how happy are those with add on hoes and do they have enough hydraulics? I saw an add on where you have to get off the tractor seat and climb on another seat to operate the hoe. That would be a BPIA if you ask me. I like to spin around in the same seat. Just my 2 cents worth.

Years ago a friend had a Kelly, not sure what model but it did ok. He had it on a Ford Jubilee and found that it was a tad to heavy for the ford and had to replace the rear end housing because the center link area broke. I have a Scout back hoe on my 8N fords and it does a fair job but it slow but for what it is works well

Tony I have a 220 Davis backhoe on my 202 industrial and as far as I am concerned, you can't get much better for that size of tractor. Using the front pump it is pretty fast and quite powerful. It is not a 3 pt. backhoe but actually attaches to the loader frame.
I can take some videos of it in action if you like. Now mine is pretty worn out and it is likely that most backhoes of that vintage would be but if you find one in good condition I would say go for it. I have chosen to fix the things that are pressing and ignore the things I can live with because it would get very spendy to fix everything.

Most small utility backhoes are like that. Got a NH 2120 at the farm that has a fully mounted back hoe, Removable but not 3pth mounted, You have to get off and climb on another seat. But hey, beats a shovel any day....

Well I hope I don't have to go into the grave digging business.I am thinking of putting one on the back of my narrow MF2135, go up to Alberta and run the world's smallest tar sand operation. Neither of the ones for sale are 3 point, used to hook up other ways, and I will do the same, extend the loder frame or ? I see Harbor freight has a tow along for $2700? with its own pump- rope start engine- saves gas but... so anyway, I will try to check these out soon, and report back to you all. Thanks guys.

As a kid, we had an IH H with a front loader. The weight of the loader cracked the tractor in half. Not to mention, there was no power stearing. Using it, makes me grateful for having a hoe with one seat, 2 way hydraulics, no trip bucket and fast hydraulics at a fast idle.

I use a hoe for personal yard work. Put 700 hours on it in 3 years. Dug about 100 ft of trench today. Each time I had to move forward, I was thinking of this post. GLAD I didn't have to climb and change seats then climb back on.

BTW, a hoe is only half of what you need. You dig a hole you may need to put the dirt back.
