everyone said the timing belts go at 60 to 80 k miles.,my 95 geo tracker that was given to us has 80,500 miles on it and I think the timing belt broke when I went to start it yesterday in my driveway,It was given to us by my wifes boss and My daughter got her license with it ,my wife does not want my daughter driving it because it has no airbags, Ihave been driving it for about a year to save gas, My wife does not want me to fix it she wants to get rid of it,. Iwill miss it.

My wife is control of a lot of stuff around here, but does NOT dictate (and never will) what I drive!

GROW a pair, already, Larry!

Couple hundred bucks to fix it and all the gas it saves.....Don't make a lot of sense to replace it. Just blow up one of them green tractor pics you used to post (you're getting MUCH better BTW) and it'll shock her into submission

Blow up a few balloons and throw em in the back seat for emergencies when you may need an airbag.

It is probably a 16 valve interference motor, but
if the belt broke at idle, it may have not done
any damage. When you replace the belt, its a good
time to replace the water pump, check the crank sprocket key and keyway and put a new Suzuki
crankshaft bolt in torqued to 94#. Hold the flex plate or flywheel through the access port with a
pair of medium vise grips to loosen and torque the
crank bolt. When you loosen the crank bolt if it
takes less than 50# to loosen it you probably have
a crank sprocket keyway problem. www.kick-fix.com
has XLNT information.

If you are driving it what difference does it make to the wife?????? Let her drive what she wants and you drive what you want. As for air bags. I have pulled a few dead people out of cars that the air bags may have killed or did not help. Good seat belts are more important than air bags.

It's NOT an interference motor...fix that rascal, it's really a cheap fix. FYI, mine had wobbled out the crank key that located the cam gear on the crank. I just held it in place with my thumb and shot a mig tack on the front of it...about 40,000 miles ago.
