OT-injector cleaners

You see all kinds of products and some gasolines that claim to clean injectors. Do any of them work?

I don"t want to start a fight, just wondering.

Last time I had my oil changed, they put in a bottle of Gum Out injector cleaner- I think I've picked up an MPG or two.

It would seem like that little bottle would be diluted so much it couldn't do any good. Maybe if you took the injectors out and soaked them in it, it would clean them.

After 44 years of over-the-road trucking and using various cleaners, the Best is transmission fluid, but you don,t want to use this as it will turn your fuel red. The next best that I have used is FPPF found at most good truck stops.

I use 10% ethanol gas to clean mine.

Ethanol is one of the best cleaners out there.

Every time I fill my tank, the cleaner is already in the gas.

Exactly. The E-10 pretty much eliminates the need for any of those "mouse milk" additives.

I like putting seafoam straight into the intake manifold. You can see how by searching for seafoam on youtube.

Can you put that in diesel fuel and how much?

I know my dad used to pour it directly into the carb, but not many vehicles have carbs anymore.

yes,i think so,some are better than others of course, and be aware that they also will cut crud out of your tank and lines, and if you dont have good filters they can stop them up.dont try pouring it down the intake though if you want to clean injectors.doing it this way doesnt even touch the injectors.I run a can of b-12 through mine in a full tank a couple times a year.both injected and carburated engines.as for cleaning a stopped up injector,i dont think they will, but its possible.i use this stuff more as a maintenance thing.

every 70,000 miles run a can of BG 44k through the system. Will work very well. Most of the time you can see the difference in 75 miles of driving. Now with computer controlled injection, the computer will try to compensate for dirty injectors and balance the engine in some cases so its harder to see the difference. On older diesel where there was "dumb" injection, a can of BG would show up quickly in faster starting, less cold smoking, smother idle and improved mpg. Now you just see better mpg. newer Ford diesels have to spin longer to start to set the computer parameters so they dont instantly start anyway.

HHHMMMMM....

I would have thought SOMEONE would have asked "gas or diesel"!

I GUESS, though, in the snake oil business it doesn't matter!

Engine type doesn't matter with Marvel Mystery Oil I use it in Gas, Diesel, Crankcases and Transmissions even in my air Tools.
