Slow Speed Tractor Race - Arthur, IL

We held a tractor slow speed race today in Arthur, IL during our annual Cheese Festival. The object is to see how slow you can go to travel 100 feet. I thought you might enjoy the results.

2. Ferguson 35 Gas - 4:54:50
3. Oliver 1600 Utility Gas - 2:59:00
4. Ferguson 40 Gas - 2:34:59
5. Oliver 550 Gas - 2:20:53
6. John Deere 520 Gas - 2:05:02
7. Oliver 88 Gas - 1:34:48
8. Oliver 770 Orchard Diesel - 1:29:58
9. John Deere "G" Gas - 1:28:32
10. John Deere 730 Diesel - 1:26:30
11. International Cub LoBoy Gas - 1:11:14
12. International "H" Gas - 1:07:12

The winner was operating so slow you could almost count the fan revolutions.
We had alot of fun!!
 
I have seen the JD 2 cylinders go so slow that you had to draw a line to see if they were moving. A 2 banger with the creeper gear is hard to beat around here.
 
Now there's a good race! I could always appreciate how slow a tractor could work- mowing, tilling, sometimes baling, rather than how fast you can go down a paved road for lunch.. I switched from AC to MF for just this reason... and now I see there is one brand even slower...

That 520 wasn't tuned right. It should have been right there in the hunt. It's easy to get one down to 170 or less rpm's. Mike
 
interesting results.
we had a couple slow races in the past. an allis 160 was the easy winner. i haven't tried using a farmall hydro, but it should do well too.
