Ford Tractor electrical problem

Working on a 1989 ford 1920 diesel tractor. Repaced the 6 year old battery. Would not start so wiggled the postive cable and tractor started. Replaced the taped up positve battery cable and nothing, no juice. Unhooked negative cable at tractor and scraped off paint and still no juice. Could there be a fuse or somnething else I am missing?

It sounds like a bad new positive cable or the battery terminal is bad if you can wiggle the cable and it works and now it doesn't. Use a voltmeter and measure voltage across the battery.

Did you check the starter solenoid? Sound like when you are moving the cable, maybe you're moving some other wires that aren't making contact until you wiggle them.HTH.

Wiggle the shuttle shift lever in the neutral position.

The safty switch may be like mine and sometimes I have to wiggle the lever to get it to start.
