Old equipment manufacturers?

Were there any farm equipment manufacturers prior to John Deere and Cyrus MacCormick in the 1830s?Do any of them survive?Or,was all the equipmemt built the farmer himself or built by the local blacksmith?Thanks,Steve

Prior to John Deere???

The Grand Detour plow company was making plows for years before John Deere.

They were bought out by J.I.Case and so here today as Case IH.

John Deere historians always leave out the part about John Deere being an employee of Grand Detour when he fashioned a plow bottom of steel while working for Grand Detour. He didn't start his own plow company until years later.
