O/T Streets Trips........

Has anyone else used the 2011 version of MS Streets & Trips?

I bought it a week ago, and I swear it's a five year old copy repackaged as a 2011. It won't even find a lot of addresses that Yahoo and Google maps will. I've emailed MS Customer Service with the product number, and all I get is a message that the DVD is "not valid in the country I'm in". I entered some random numbers and got the same message, not a message that it was not a valid product number.

So far, it hasn't done anything for me that I couldn't have done faster and simpler with Yahoo maps.

With google maps, Yahoo, and MapQuest, I see no reason to buy any mapping program. Why pay for something you can get free?

I bought Streets and Trips with the GPS shortly after it came out and the GPS part worked very well for me on a Motor Home trip across Canada. I kept a 'trail' of my travels for an entire month. No arguing about which mall we did a few circles in 'cause the detail was that good. As far as Google Map goes, I didn't compare that. Lots of times when we needed to see maps or the other features like campgrounds and such, we had no internet connection, so the standalone was great. Look forward to other opinions

In 2005 I bought a copy of Streets and Trips 2005 before going on a trip to Western Canada to visit cousins. It worked really well for the small towns and cities.
Last year upgraded to 2010 version. On the newer versions MS has dropped the detail for the small towns and rural areas. The big cities are good.

That's been my feeling all along, but my District Manager went on a kick of promoting S&T, so I thought I'd give it a try.

'Bout the only feature for my purposes that Yahoo won't do is you can enter multiple addresses and it will post the most efficient way of making the rounds. It MIGHT be worth $40 to have that feature when I inspect a half dozen houses in a day.

I tried an older version but I couldn't get it to draw me a route I wanted to go. I stick to paper maps and make my own way.

I have a 2005 Streets and trips that I have used a lot and like. On any of them the info is only as good as the wing nut that enters it in the computer. Some of the free web sites have made my drive way the access to the local golf coarse. It is seven miles from me. These new "smart phones" with GPS navigator features where the ones wrong every time. It was real fun here a few weeks back when the District High School Cross country meet was held at the golf coarse. We had five or six cars back my half mile long drive way looking for the Running meet. I should have sold tickets.
