will a 14T square baler handle corn stalks? mother in law wants to try mulching the garden next year for potatoes. was thinking about running the bush hog thru the corn stalks to shred them, then maybe running the 3pt finish mower thru them to fine chop em, then rake and bale them. will that go thru the baler ok?

Should work OK if you keep the dirt out of the baler.

Only time we had baling anything with a New Holland baler is when a guy ran a wheel rake to low in oat straw without seeding and had a bunch of dirt in the windrow.

We had to rebuild the plunger shortly after.

Chop them up as you mentioned and you"ll be fine.Coarse stalks are pretty tough on an old 14T.

THe baler shouldn't have any problem baling them, but if you chop them up too fine with the finish mower, you'll probably have a hard time picking them up with the pickup attachment on the baler.
