Anyone here smoke a pipe? What do you smoke in it (canabis not an acceptable answer)? I use el cheapo Capt Black gold just because i like the smell...this time of year I like to walk around the farm and woods with a pipe, seems to go with fall weather.

I used to- used Borkum Riff (sp?), kind of aromatic, but not too much. Cherry Blend would just make mincemeat of my tongue. Always enjoyed it, but of course, its so socially unacceptable now, I won't take it up again.

I smoke Captain Black White. I've noticed most people like the smell of a pipe. Even the rabid antismokers at work will edge a little closer when I've got mine lit.

I don't know who makes it, but it's from the local cigarette outlet. One flavor is called "Blue Note", the other is "Night Cap". I smoked PA (nope, not in a can) every once & a while when I still smoked cigarettes. Can't stand the taste of either, anymore. The "Blue Note" & "Night Cap" go good with the occasional burbon & RC before bed.

I smoke a pipe. I like the cherry flavored tobaccos the best. My favorite tobacco from a local shop is called Washington Cherry, it has a great taste and a pleasing aroma. I also like to smoke a cherry flavored tobacco from another local shop called Wilshire. It"s great too! I"ve had royal cherry cavendish by blenders gold, not bad and cheap. Also have had some peach and honey flavored tobaccos that were great! I recently tried a tobacco called Cambridge that was pretty good.

I like to smoke my pipe when I"m in the shop working on stuff, as well as when I am chopping wood. Usually when I drive one of my tractors or classic cars I will be puffing on a pipe too. I agree too, that fall is a great time of year to smoke a pipe. I also like to smoke my pipe when I go to auctions. I"ve had auctioneers as well as people in the crowd comment on how great the pipe smells. I also get a lot of looks because I am young, being 20. It"s a fun hobby!

borkum riff

I used to smoke a pipe and cigars.. have pretty much stopped now. only had 1 cigar in the last year.

store brand at the local head shop had some cherry red wine that I liked. if i needed a cheap smoke, that dutch masters was always easy to find..

Yeah, I was trying to stay downwind of a guy with a pipe at an auction, but he kept moving, because he thought the smoke was bothering me. I finally asked him to just stand still, I was there on purpose.

I used to smoke a pipe too. Seemed i like most tobbacos, half & half, edgeworth, The riffs and sir walter rally, carter hall, to name a few. One thing for sure pipes are out of fashion here.

My uncle used to smoke a pipe. He always used a cherry blend tobacco and it always smelled really good!

My father was a life-long pipe smoker--until he came down with cancer of the throat at age 71. They cured his cancer, but they had to remove his voice box in the process. He lived another 15 years, but the only way he could talk was to hold an electronic gadget next to his throat and make a mechanical sound.

Guess it's a matter of what your priorities are.

An old friend of my dad's smoked a pipe. He died of stomach cancer in his late 40s. I am told that pipe smokers swallow the smoke. Not a good way check out of this life, too early.

see how fun that hobby is when you're holding a vibrator to your throat so you can order a meal.......... Whatever floats your boat but you're young enough to give it up and forget all about it.......

I go shopping with the wife sometimes and slip off into the tobacco section tho...........

Smoked a pipe for 20 years, along with cigarettes. Really enjoyed the pipe, but couldn't do just the pipe--had to have the cigs too, so had to quit 'em both. Smoked Amphora, but the best I ever had was Three Star from Iwan Reis of Chicago. People would follow you around it smelled (and tasted) so good.

My dad smoked a pipe for a short spell. Don't see it much around here, too much work I guess. My folks both smoke and out of three kids I'm the only one that ended up with asthma. I can't stand cigarette smoke but love the smell from a pipe!

I started in 1968, stopped in mid July of this year. Tried a lot of blends but the last 20+ years was with Borkum Riff Original Ultra Light, years ago they claimed it was almost healthy! I figured that I could find a better use for the $28.00 a month.

Smoking a pipe over 30 years so far. I know alot of dead pipe smokers. I know more than alot of dead people that never smoked pipes. One thing I won't do again is try to make Conneticutt Valley cigar broad leaf into something that doesn't taste like a cigar. I tried to make my own cherry flavor, and added vanilla syrup, mixed with cheap cherry flavored- nothing makes a King Edward taste like Prince ALbert. I will grow 'proper' burleys or a cavendish next spring... and try it all over again. I have enough left from last year to last till then. 6 plants makes alot of tobacco.... hey Cherry Blend is almost $40 a can? That's way too much. I like long smokes, so I have pipes with a big bowl. Merscham is awesome, but Maplewood Missouri Mercshams are great for the money.

I love the smell of a pipe and hunted a poor fella down outside of Target. I grew up with my Dad smoking a pipe and it brings me back. Darn shame it's not healthy.

Dad never smoked except in the winter months, then after supper it was him, the paper, and his pipe, some nights it was a cigar instead.

July 30, 1987, 3:00 in the afternoon. The last pipe I smoked. Smoked for about 25 years, but finally realized that it wasn't pleasureable anymore. Probably one of my rare smart decisions!

just finished a pipefull of home grown tobacco , , it helps my digestion , Learned that from my Ancestors ,Who LIVED WELL INTO THEIR 90s, I have a uncle who is 101 , who pipe smoked ,AND used to make and transport and drink moonshine out of Dubois coIND, back in the 30s, they could get over 20$a gallon in Louisville and FRENCH LICK , I like the aroma or Store Bought Tobacco , However , You have no idea what is in it , Lots of DDT still bein used in South America TODAY >>> Since IMPORTS of Tobacco dramatically increased when Our Govm't starved American Tobacco Out .. I can Stop for monthes and not smoke Home turf tobacco ,, it is not nearly addictin as STORE crap ,,.

I've smoked a pipe since I was 19 and I'm 30 now. I smoke a whole lot of different kinds of tobacco, but anything by McClelland's is top notch.

I used to smoke a pipe or occasional cigar, but quit about 35 years ago. I liked the smell of the Cherry blend tobaccos, so long as someone else was smoking them, but what I preferred to smoke was Flying Dutchman
