carb. flooding

I own a 1942 John Deere A with a DLTX 71 carburetor
it never ran quite right when I got it and after I painted it all it does is flood. So I replaced the float and the needle and seat but it still floods

I am not familiar with a DLTX 71 carburetor but did you adjust the float level?

It should not have a #71 any way.More likely a #46

I was working on an ATV that had a flooding issue. It turned out that the vent hose had been smashed flat. It would develop a siphon that would suck the needle open. Check to see if you haven't painted over the bowl vent. Hope you find it.

Your float might have a hole in it, that happens alot.

A dltx 71 is a gas carb and will work just fine on any model a as long as you burn gas the correct # for that A is dltx 53
