O/T: Winter air...

Well, this morning I noticed that the tires on our Suburban looked a little low. I checked the pressure and sure enough they were a little low. Then it hit me, I'm still driving around with summer air in those tires!

I rolled that puppy into the shop and quickly took the tires off. As thoroughly as possible, I pumped that summer air out. Then I replaced it with winter air. It's a good thing that I still had a couple of cans of winter air still on the shelf from last winter, so I didn't have to buy any.

As I was putting the last lug nut on, I was feeling pretty good about how prudent I was in saving a few cans of winter air and how diligent and responsible I was in getting this work done before any tragic results came from driving with the wrong air in the tires.

Still, I can't shake this nagging feeling that I didn't get all the summer air out of the tires. Do you suppose it will make any difference? ;>)

did you use # one air or # two air?
I use mostly # one air in my tires , works very good all year long .

Only if you worry about it.One question; What about Spring and Fall air.Have you taken them into consideration? I can"t believe I responded to this.Well I am going to watch some tractor pulls on You Tube.See Ya.

I use the synthetic blend of year around air. I have way to many tires on this farm to be changing them every season. by the way, did you put fresh wind in the windshield??

I would never, ever consider using synthetic air! It is an overrated product that is sold by slick marketing and packaging at high prices to those who just don't know any better. I am not trying to start an argument over air here, but my daddy always used regular air and I remember his tires lasting a long, long time without any problems. ;>)

No if changing from summer to winter and synthetic winter is being installed for the first time you must run a vacuum pump or purge all the old air out.

It will only mix if ran in summer so they can get used to each other ... LOL

On A serious note.. I understand using Hydrogen will last longer in tires.

I thought as flammible as hydrogen is that the tires would simply blow up by themselves if you added some heat. Seriously I think you meant nitrogen....unless ofcourse you were just joking......

Changing air from summer to winter in your tiresjust where did you come up with that just what time of the year is that done. Are there any dates or what determines the change. You people must have bad water or something.

Do you have the all season beep and headlight fluid??? Hate to see slow reactions caused by the summer stuff thckening up......

Can't believe how many fall for what is obviously a conspiracy/marketing ploy foist upon the unsuspecting public by Big Air. We need to think "sustainable" here, and not be guilted into throwing out perfectly usable summer air. Come on, people, this stuff doesn't grow on trees.

I"ve went to using Bio-air. I blend it myself from used air I have around. MUCH cheaper than buying new air. No ill effects sumer or winter with the exception that in winter the tires roll a little slower at start up. But this is something I can live with.
Have a great day

I don't buy the whole winter/summer air. I am still trying to figure out why I only have a tire that is half flat!!! Anyone got a muffler bearing for a 1950 super a?

Hadn't thought about it, but that's probably whats wrong with one of my tractor tires, completely flat, must have put in either stale, or the wrong season air. Thanks for the heads up.

All I could find was "Made in China" winter air at the parts store. I refuse to use it and can't find any "Made in USA" air.

LOL We had a none to bright truck driver at Ft Bliss. While his truck (duece and a half) was in the shop for quarterly services was told by a mechanic that the stale air in his tires needed changed just like the engine oil. He rolled all the tires spare included out to the tire cage, removed the valve cores and aired em back up.

All joking aside it is time to check air pressure.

I use a mixture of hydrogen and oxygen. Don't have to put up with the summer winter changeover. Do have to be careful around sparks. When a tire blows it really blows.

Larry' I'd guess you got ahold of some sharp air. We had a tire on our 1960 Chevy that kept going flat about 50 years ago and the service station owner told dad it was sharp air when he couldn't find the nail ole.

Good thing! Chinese Air has been recalled due to a high lead content. Probably from all thier dissidents getting shot.

Every time the season changes it means more work
around here. Just last week we finished rounding up the catfish from the summer ponds and moving them down to the winter ponds.

You should not have used winter air left over from last year. The Gov has changed the definition of what air is, therefore the stuff you bought last winter will no longer function as air. You need to buy new winter air.

All this talk about changing over to winter air and NOT ONE PERSON has brought up the dangers of releasing old summer air into the atmosphere.

That old air MUST be recaptured and disposed of properly.

Number one contributor to global warming is the release of lighter summer air directly into the atmosphere during cold weather months.

shame on you all

Yes , but I see it took a drastic price drop.. Guess the EPA got after them because of the population is creating Global warming from the gasses left by their septic systems .. to resolve this as they no longer are allowed to release it in the atmosphere they are collecting and selling it .

Hey! That's why they put a tinge of ethanol in tire air up here. To keep the air from freezing in the tire. Well. I tried ?
