How's your deer season going??

Well today is the last day of any deer here in Missouri. Sp far during gun season I have only seen one buck and if had only 6 points which is not a legal deer here. I did take a 9 pointer during bow season and with gun only taken a far size doe. Been way to windy and warm here to do well. Tomorrow doe season opens up so I bet I'll see all the buck then LOL. Guess I need to figure out how to have both my gun and bow with me at the same time so I can shoot either a buck or a doe and be legal. All total there has been 10 deer taken but only a few bucks and most of those where button bucks.

Sunday ended Minnesota Rifle season.
Too windy opening weekend and full moon.
Been so warm deer bed all day and move at night.
Saw one buck all season and no shot.Saturday opening of muzzleloader season, hoping weather turn COLD! Nice to see some had luck.

I'm ready to get back to bow hunting. We don't have the antlerless only season down here in Jasper County. SWMBO absconded with my .308 BAR, I've been relegated to spotter status. She's been on the hunt for a big old buck that's gotten his rack knocked off. Judging from the size of the "stumps" he's sporting, the headgear was pretty sizeable before the fight. He's given her the slip 3 different times, starting with opening day when she watched him get up from his bed. I gotta give her credit, she's had several does and button bucks in easy range and always holds up, waiting for the old broken buck. This morning was cold and wet, nothing moving in the rain. She's gonna give it the old college try this afternoon. Mark

I put a couple on the ground opening weekend. Every way I have looked out from my stand have been deer, so I'm fortunate. Like my dad always says about deer hunting in Southern Wisconsin..."It's not so much deer hunting as it is deer shooting." Opening weekend I saw thirty-four deer, both bucks and does. No wall hanger for me this year, but a definitely a full freezer, and I'm happy with that.

(quoted from post at 11:07:30 11/22/11) Well today is the last day of any deer here in Missouri. Our bow season here in Pa closed on 11/12. It has been a bad year for me so far. Last year at this time we had 5 down. This year I have gotten 1 doe. We have 9 doe tags and 4 bug tags yet to fill. I have seen 3 bucks and only 1 was legal and I shot over top of him. The rut was really late here and I am not sure it actually started for a lot of them. The deer have done there best to screw me up this year. I have been caught flat footed several times. Our gun season starts on 11/28, but we can only take a buck for the first 5 days. We can't take a doe until 12/3 in our area. I missed out on NE this year and I am sad about that, but life throws you some curves now and again. Pa is a tough state to hunt. Plenty of deer, but hard to get at, lots of posted ground, less and less hunters to move them and plenty of thickets everywhere. God I love it though.

Guess we are lucky up here in Camden county we have 1 buck limit for gun and 2 buck limit on bow and limitless doe tags. At least I have 2 in the freezer as of right now and will be going back out later today and see if I can get the big one that 2 or 3 of the guys have seen but no one has got a shot off at him. So far this year I have taken the biggest buck on my place and that was the Monday before gun season opened and took it from the stand I set up for my wife.
You say Jasper county that's down in the Joplin area RIGHT???

I've only seen 1 baldhead. No shot. My whole crew has only gotten 2 so far, but we still have 5 days. They're moving at night... if I can get the guys to get off their butts and do some drives, we'll get deer...

The statewide gun season opened on Saturday, Nov 19th. By Sunday evening on the 20th, 603,919 hunters had managed to bag 112,581 deer. That's 112,581 deer in two days. 57,977 of them were bucks. 4,538 total deer in my county alone. 4,300 in the county to our northwest. Not to worry, there will be plenty left after the season ends on Sunday, 27 Nov.

First day of gun season started in WV yesterday.I got a buck yesterday and a good doe this mourning. It has rained for the last 2 days.

We hunt in Western Oklahoma around Sweetwater. Hunted Saturday night, and Sunday morning and evening. I was surprised that we saw around 30 deer. Of course some of them were probably the same ones cycling through the field. Biggest buck I saw was a moderate sized 8 pointer. We let him go. Saw lots of 4 pointers and doe.

Son in law got a nice 8 point with a bow 2 Sundays ago.

Shotgun season isn't till December here in Iowa.My gun season starts Dec. 10th.

I'm surprised you southern guys have a gun season so early.

Not much of a deer, but I sure like my new stand! I hunted on and off for 5 days before I got him. Our old tractor doesn't have a loader so we use this one, it's our little work horse!

I didn't even go this year. The local High School football team is playing for the State Championship Friday. They had games the last two Saturdays with all the assorted excitement in between.

Can't say I have missed it so far. May go out during doe and muzzleloader season.

I have to wait until Nov. 28th, The first day of the season. Have not seen buck around as in the past but I have 5 doe that are in the yard every day. They are not afraid of the dog but he is so old that he could not chase them if he wanted to. I don't hunt doe.

I did notice yesterday that the bark is rubbed off of the wife's new weeping cherry tree. Thats not good lol

I was in Adams county IL last week driving through and pickups were every where, I saw one of the best bucks I have ever seen just grazing in plain site of three trucks and everybody was in the woods!

Son and I saw 9 bucks in the field one evening during the September early doe season...None terribly big, but bucks all the same. Had to work hard to find a couple does to bag.

November 15th (opener of rifle season) I got a doe, next day, got a spikehorn chasing a doe, and the doe... Sure spoiled his day!

Son got a 5 point, about the same size as the spike.

Watched a doe for about 15 minutes last nite - let her go.

Now before you get all upset, I'm supplying several families, and 6 of us are eating out of our freezer. Deer are taking a large chunk of my crops, way too many of them.

So far I haven't gotten a shot off. Seeing a few does, very few. I did see six one evening, but I only have a buck license. One of the guys that hunt my place, got a eight point Saturday morning, and his Son missed a four point, Sunday. Still looking.

Got a nanny doe during bow season and nothing else so far. Had FWC Youth Hunt this past wx for does. Kids seen 3 does and a nice buck. No shots taken as it was getting dark.

Going to the city this T-Day so wont be back in the woods until next week. Need 2 or 3 more in the freezer if GOD willing. Season ends Jan 14.

Gun season begins the Monday after Thanksgiving in Penna. We butcher for our local hunters each year. We only did four during bow season and several more for Ford and Chev. season. Starting Monday I'll cut 75 more in the next two weeks. After that, its front loader and special season. I don't make a lot of money but it makes the winter shorter and a lot of our hunters buy at our Farm Mkt. in the summer. Ed

Brother and his crew are hunting over on the S. Fork North of Hawkins.....got one 8Pt...saw a few does for group of 6....they sit/don"t drive...or they would get more deer. They were holding out on does until yesterday, and I have not been updated yet...

Nice snow for you guys though....we had 5 hrs rain on Saturday. I still remain hopeful and patient.

OK, two down before noon opening day Illinois - no record types - using cheap sluggers. Unlike the MN enclosed house ours is an open fronted ground blind with sides and a roof.

The picture makes it look bigger, in MN we weigh them after field dressing, this one only went 155. My wife got one a few years ago that went 215, that's our biggest. I had the heater on low, it was a nice day. A few years ago it was -18F on opening morning, and sometimes we wait for days for that first chance!

Got this fat nine Nov. 2nd during archery season here in Western PA. He was running around with two other bucks. One of the others was a nice 8 outside the ears and a smaller one inside the ears that I didn't focus on much. I was on the ground and it's quite a rush when they're running back and forth for nearly an hour before they came up my shooting lane. The 8 stopped about 15 feet away and this one was about 15 yards. Don't know what he weighed but I got over 80 lbs. cut and wrapped which is far more than any other I've ever shot around here. Not a trophy to most but the biggest I ever got and he'll be proudly displayed on my wall...!!

Going well so far, each of us have taken 1 so far, rifle opened on Sat 11-19-11.

Best friend, was out with his son, and took a very nice 6 pt. buck, just if those brow tines stubbed up a little more LOL ! It was a good hunt for them on their family's farm, was his sons first outing in rifle or gun season, Dad gave him a new 20 gauge this year, breach loader suited for slugs and sabo rounds, they live in a shotgun only county.

Great kid, his dad had me teach his son how to field dress and butcher this deer. Its kind of funny as for some reason, the initial field dressing task, kind of always gags him or something, though he'd do it if I was not around, I usually get the job. His mother(kids grandmother) was joking with him about his inability to do this as I worked and showed his son how to do it, his son really picked up on it and did a great job trimming out the cuts I put on the table, will probably remember it a long time.

Yesterday was a cool crispy morning, did not go in at 5:30 am, just wheeled from too much physical labor lately, snuck into my stand at 7am, no one else hunting, promptly saw some doe crossing my shooting lane, nice size one lined up at 250 yds and took that one yesterday, already cut up and frozen.

Absolutely great! Rather than get up early and trudge out to a deer stand, I let the neighbors thin them out and they always give me a couple tubes of salami and some jerky. Around here unless you process them yourself it is pretty expensive meat.

Here in Md. we have a abundant deer season. Got out 3 times during early muzzle, saw about six, but didn't get a shot off. Shotgun opens Saturday for two weeks, one off, then muzzle loader again for two, and a late shotgun again in mid January. Bow has been open since Sept. Total limit is 42 per hunter in all three types of hunting, in two geographic areas. If you hunt my area like I do, in smokepole and shotgun, the limit is 24- 4 bucks and 20 does. Son in law has stuck four so far.
