I posted a copy a someone's ad last week about "free beavers." Kind of amusing. A few here thought it had more "sinister" meaning.

Now there's a new one this morning with better explanation. Here in central New York near the Susquehanna River.

Black Friday Beaver-Free (Willseyville / Candor)

Attention Shoppers: If you are looking for the ultimate gift for that hard to shop for person, I have a great deal for you. It a locally crafted, home decoration, like having a touch of the outdoors inside. If all this sounds too good to pass up, please head on down to Willseyville, where there is a little home and a crazy beaver that has to go. For the avid shopper who A) loves a good deal B) is a trapper C) would look forward to the smiles on the faces of your family as they see the beautiful pelt wrapped up all fancy under the Christmas tree. If this your kind of deal, and the thought of walking around Target at 5AM is not your cup of tea, please email me. No coupons necessary.

(Craig's List community, This is an ad for a free beaver. Not a pet, not a joke. This critter has been causing damage to many places on my property and neighborhood. I have had the county and NYSEG out to fix the things that have been damaged by this animal. I do not trap. After a call with the DEC I was giving advice to have it trapped, and removed, and if I could not have it taken care of on my own that I could call back and they could send someone that I would hire to do it. Beaver pelts do sell, and I am not sure of the value. This is not a joke, my ad is cleave and funny, but in the end this is a serious posting. So please do not flag, if you have an issue with this ad or questions please contact me directly.)

This is not a joke. Take a 25# beaver, add potatoes, carrots, and onions and bake for about two or three hours. Mighty fine groceries!!! It doesn't taste like chicken, more a cross between beef and pork.

I'd like to know if the ad works......I have one guy who comes in to trap here but think it wouldn't hurt to have a few more trappers.......
