ad one night in Nov down to -10* F but otherwise its been quite nice here in Valleyview , Grande Prairie area its around freezing now, supposed to cool down today for a couple days then back up the mid thirties by the weekend, got about 6 in of snow on the ground but it has been known to disappear ,have had a few brown christmasses up this way in the last 20 years since Ive been here. Sunrise about 8:30 and sets about 4:15.

About 10F right now, just got a couple inches of snow. We have had a weather roller-coaster so far this winter. Set a record of 6 days below
-40F in November (previous record was 3 days), and then it got warm and windy in December (40F) and we lost most of our snow and got a day of freezing rain to make the roads nice and slick. Normally up here once it gets cold it does not get above freezing for 4-5 months, so the roads are not too bad, not this winter. Our sunrise today will be around 10:30am, sets around 3:00pm, but it is daylight for longer than that, long dusk and dawn.

I grew up mining in the Brooks Range, well north of the arctic circle, and in the winter up there you did not see the sun for a couple of weeks, but it was still daylight for about three hours.

Total darkness and midnight sun only happens in and up to 90km away from the Arctic Circle. Includes parts of Canada, Alaska, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Lapland, Russia, Greenland, and the tip of Iceland. It also happens in the Antarctic Circle but at opposite times of the year. None of the provinces get total darkness here, only the territories.

Bible says Hell is a lake of fire and brimstone. In my way of thinking it could just as well be a solid sheet of ice and snow with a 40 mile wind. And semi dark.

Not so far north, Edmonton area but temps are decent. Sitting at 32F right now with lows going to low 20s tonight. Hardly any snow left after the last week of pretty warm weather up to 40 for some periods.

Wind has been rather bad but thats what keeps bringing in the warm air. I'm not complaining, just wish I could be outside enjoying it while we have it!
