I lived in a rural area for many years Elect would go out fairly often because of weather ect. A neighbor told me that if you have the small solor lights by your driveway. To bring them in at night and they will give out light almost all night and put them back out to recharge the next day. Providing you have sunlight.

That should work, I bought two solar lights last year and put them at the front steps. For a long time they would burn all night. They get a little weak after a while though unless maybe you pay more than $2.50 each for them. lol

IMHO the only time solar lights work good is during the daytime. But they are right, that will work.

Just depending. We either fire up the Adladan mantle lamp and play cards etc.
Or we crank up the generator and carry on as normal. If roads etc are closed down we start house cleaning, washing dishes, laundry and generally get caught up.

True, depending on how much energy thay have stored up, they can provide some light BUT NOT MUCH FOR VERY LONG. Probably good to have some Kerosene lamps, either the cheapies or the Alladins, or Coleman lanterns and stoves with plenty of fuel (Coleman or Kerosene) on hand for longer term outages. Then fire up the genset, as/if needed for food storage, turn on the radio, play cards etc.
