My mom who is 85 gave me her dads old oil lantern recently. She said he used to use it coon hunting & wanted me to have it. I cleaned it up a little, it's in pretty good shape. I can't one mfg name, numbers or any kind of mark on it anywhere that might give a clue as to who made it, where or when. Any of you know anything about a lantern like this? Just curious, doesn't matter if it's not worth 5 cents to others. Will keep it & pass on to the kids someday. Any help on it would be much appreciated.
Thanks, Cannon

I know it holds a lot of sentimental value for you, but I would keep it for the novelty as well. Never seen one like that. Like the feller said, "They don't make 'em like that anymore."
GreenBeanMan, thanks for posting that reference, that was some very interesting information.

we had a similar lantern in the barn...used it to go flounder gigging for years...my dad bought a new coleman lantern and the kerosene lamp hung in the barn...i guess it grew legs like so much of the other stuff that was in there...thanx for the memory refresher.
