Open Drive Shafts

The Farmall F-20 has an open driveshaft behind the clutch that spins whenever the engine is running. I'm wondering how many other tractors had a driveshaft that wasn't enclosed.

Many of the old Olivers like the 77, 88 S88 S77 also the MH tractors had a number of them like that like the 30 and the 44 etc

mine only spins when the clutch is engaged enging running. with clutch pushed in shaft stops at least on mine

It's supposed to have a cover, mine has one, there are three bolts on the trans side one at 12oclock and one at 3 & 9 oclock

My Massy Mustang has an open shaft.

My Oliver super 44 has an open drive shaft

Massey Harris 44 is a good example. Open shaft after the clutch (the shaft stops turning when the clutch pedal is pressed in). The clutch shaft and transmission shafts (each with a sprocket on the shaft end) coupled together by a double width roller chain. And not covered up with sheet metal as seems to be the case with the Farmall F-20.
