another ??? for the heating folks....

Are these things used on any of the oil furnaces in the states or canada??? If so, what are they called and do you have an online source for them? Or where can they be bought over the counter?
The one I need is #16501 and needs the opening on the other side.

I have not done oil for years but it looks to be an infrared flicker detector. Satronic used to be a part of Honeywell I don’t know if it still is or not.

The detectors come in Left viewing, Right viewing and End viewing (16501 Flicker detectors IRD 1010 right, 16502 Flicker detector IRD 1010 end-on, 16503 Flicker detector IRD 1010 left).

I have been out of it for so long I don’t know of any sources you may have some luck by googling, try Honeywell.

What happened is, I ordered one with a right window and they sent me a straight one and are out of stock .... Is it possible to just cut a little side window in the straight one?
 

Don’t think that is going to work Dave.

Behind the window is an infrared detector most of these detectors have a narrow viewing angle rather that the ability to see a wide area so I suspect that the detectors are different or at least have a different mounting position for each detector depending on the “view”.
