O.T. Buzzsaw

Anyone still use an old belt driven buzzsaw with their tractors? Seen pictures of one for sale on craigslist here in my neck of the woods, the guy is asking $175 for it. It appears to be complete with the stand and pulley but minus a drive belt.

Yes, I do. Power by one of my Silver Kings, about once a year, in the fall. A Family tradition I guess, for over 60 years. May be cutting old building materials or slabwood. Plenty of both around. Used in cookstove, room stove (heatrola) or kindling for the bucket-a-day stove. Had my saw for many years. Don't know
what the value may be.

I have one mounted on the drawbar of a Farmall B. It uses the belt pulley thats under seat of tractor. Haven't used mine in the last year and half cause it needs new belt. I just found a place that has the old style flat belting. If you do buy it ( Hit & Miss Enterpries of Orwell,Ohio (440)272-5335 ) have flat belting and can cut to what ever length you need and also lace it for you.

I have 2 around here that I have not used in a few years. My Brother has a stand alone one that he uses every Fall. He powers it with his JD L, and keeps it sharp with a good set. Works great.

I have 3 of them. None ever cost me more then $25. Where you at I see them sell all the time and have yet to see one bring more then maybe $50

Dad had one he used with the 8N Ford. But you need a right angle, PTO driven belt pulley, and they aren't that plentiful.

I cut up quite a bit of 3 and 4" fir blowdown stuff, and one would be handy- not so much, with bigger firewood.

I have a real nice belt pulley that fits the N's for sale. It has the paper pulley that's in very good condition.

we use ours a couple times a year.Try to find one with a flywheel built into it,the bigger the better. it keeps the rpms going when you get into the thicker stuff.Keep in mind fairly dangerous to use, just have to be mindful of where your body parts are in relation the the blade at all times. P.s. I never paid more than $100 for any of the ones we own. bill m.

I'm in south Alabama, not planning on buying it as I don't need it. Was just wondering if anyone still used a buzzsaw. From what others have posted he is asking too much for it.

I was born some place down that way many many years ago. I can not tell you any thing about the town I was born in other then it was the home of the A/C G tractor. Lived there less then a year so some how have no idea what the town even looked like LOL

I traded one I got for free, after it sat here for 5 years, for a cord or so of white oak in log length, I have to block and split it yet. Would have cost me $150 for the wood. But the guy wanted to trade for the buzzsaw. Worked out for both of us!

Have one that fits on the rear of my Ferguson TEA.Just paid $350 at clearing sale.$ Parity is about equal.

Yup, great rig for pole wood up to 4" or so. Lots faster and arguably safer than a chainsaw. With either one the brain needs to be engaged before anything else!
