Used Fry Oil In My Oil Furnace?

Nevermind about the wood question below. Could I filter this oil to say 5 microns or so and blend it with the #2 for my furnace? What concentration could I use? My tank is in the basement so warmth isn't a problem. Would it burn clean or hot enough? Is 5 microns finer than necessary? I don't have any diesel tractors or trucks, but I that thing in my basement sure is thirsty. Oh, furnace is 10 years old and has electronic arc ignition. Beckett unit.

I would say so....If it will go through diesel injectors it sure as heck will go through an oil furnace. I came from a small town in Idaho were their was a french fry plant,,mind you this was forty years ago, but the whole town smelled of french fry grease, caused we burned it mixed with fuel oil back then.

You need to heat the oil up as well as filtering it.

There is a Yahoo group dedicated to people that convert furnaces and water heaters like that.

Oooooooo, the made in America expert is gonna tell you how
to do it..., you go rich ,,, not that I like them, but I think your

Quit being $tupid and quit being l@zy...

FYI, untill you mentioned it, I had no idea that Green Bay lost to the Giants and even after you did mention it, I still didnt care. Sorry but I really dont follow sports. Dont have the time and just dont care.

in-too-deep, the Yahoo group I mentioned before is altfuelfurnace. I think you have to join the group to read the messages but they let everybody in, they just do membership to stop spam. Lots of good help there, well worth your time if you want very cheap heating fuel.

Hahaha,,,you don't even know what is going on in your own
state. At least I follow current news.

Of course I know whats going on here.... IMPORTANT things. If you think that some football game means anything in the big picture of life, well, all I can say to that is you truely have no clue as to the current events of Wisconsin. Sad too because some of it lands fairly close to you as well, paying attention could be of interest to you. Again though, you prove stereotypes.

If I had to, or wanted to leave NY, than Wisconsin "dairyland"
is were I would maybe go! No football means nothing,, just a
sport.

(quoted from post at 22:27:47 01/23/12) will it smell like chicken or french-fries? lol
A neighbor runs it in a couple tractors and his boy runs his mercedes on it... Smells like a happymeal drivin thru town........ Never heard of using it in a furnace and can't imagine it'd ignite good enough... with almost every house using oil here (in my area), you'd think someone would have done it if it worked..... Good ??? tho...

I use it in my 1206 mixed with diesel. 60% oil and 40% diesel. Runs great and seems cleaner. I dont get as much coke in the exhaust when I run it. Dont use any oil fired furnaces around here. It's all natural gas. Is the oil dripped in or sprayed under pressure or how does that work?

It should work if its atomized properly, I would think but what do I know? Try a small quantity and see what happens. That way if it doesn't you haven't that much to clean out.

(quoted from post at 05:26:32 01/24/12) Its sprayed under pressure like a diesel engine. Only one injector. Ignition comes from an electric arc.

got on a couple forums here a few hours ago..... read that it was possible but needed a different pump and nozzle at least and that it went thru nozzles fast... Gums things up..... If you want to take advantage of it and have enough to justify it, get you something diesel to run it in..... Old VW or something to scamp around in......

One of the problems here is vegetable oil does not readily mix with mineral oil. I tried this once in a Clean-Burn 2800, which can burn most anything, and I had much trouble with it. It probably could have been made to work, but I only had 30 gallons. I would suggest that unless you have a vast supply of this stuff, it's not worth the effort, especially during cold weather when you're shivering while trying to get the furnace started again. This is a summertime experiment.
