Where to buy Group 31 batteries

I am looking to get 4 group 31 threaded post batteries for a 99 Freightliner that I am working on. Where is the best place to buy them? I have looked at Tractor Supply, Advance, O'reillys, Auto Zone, Napa, and TruckPro. So far looks like TSC or Advance are gonna be cheapest. Have I missed somewhere? Keep in mind I am in TN. Thanks in advance for your help.

Got any class 8 truck dealers near ? I worked for an IH/Navistar dealer and we would run specials on them alot.

Morgan I got 4 at the Interstate distributor in Jackson Tn last week. Don,t know what part of Tn you are in.. We also purchase some from Rural King in Clarksville Tn. They are exie batteries and seem to hold up well. Going to be $ 70 + anywhere you go.

Where in Tennessee are you located?

I needed a big odd-ball shaped one for a tractor. I found it at Batteries Plus and my recollection is that the price was reasonable.

Got any 18 wheeler dealers near by? That's all that I use on my
tractors and get them from a local Navistar (used to be
International) dealer. Has them on a skid and you can buy a
sealed 31 for like $56.

For those who don't know what a 31 is, it's a heavy duty, shock
rated 27 with 3/8" stud posts. So while you are there, you have
them (custom) make up your new cables with 3/8" lugs and say
goodby to the old lead to lead cruddy connections.

Thanks for the help guys. Called the local International dealer and they have them for $88.30 each plus tax with no core charge. Do you think this is a good price or should I check around some more? BTW I am located in northern middle tn north of cookeville.

31 is a center post 30, both are longer than a 27. 31s are available with both 3/8" studs of conventional posts. If you find them anywhere near $90 you got a fair deal.

How many CCAmps? I use 4 1000"s in my truck, just bought them at Freightliner,$114. a piece for the big ones. You can get the 750.s for a lot less. These are Alliance brand, got 5 years out of my last set.

NAPA, Carquest or Cat... go with the 1100 CCA for a truck.
I can tell you right now... you can buy cheaper than any of them if cheap is what you want. You won't get better for the money tho.

No core charge? Bet there is if you don't turn in your old ones. Otherwise keep'em and get about $10 each at another place.

He said no core charge and don't have to bring in the old one either. 925 cranking amps. He didn't say what brand they were only that they came out of North Carolina and they had had good service out of them for years.

After I read your reply I went out and measured my current 31D
which was an Exide I bought from Tractor Supply.....but I had
bought numerous batteries from the OTR truck dealer.

I measured mine with a ruler and discovered as you said. Hadn't
paid that much attention before and my comment really had to
do with the fact that I assumed the size would fit most tractors
boxed for 27's as they easily fit my JD's and Fords.

So, I yield to the power, so to speak, Grin,
