I know this is not tractor related but can someone please tell me how to get the ingnition switch out of the dash of a 65 f-100. I need to change out the tumbler. your help would be greatly appreciated!
 
been a long time but I think that chrome ring around it unscrews. The ring comes out the front and the tumbler goes out the back.
 
If the face of the tumbler has a little hole in it, stick a straightened out paper clip in, and turn. Maybe thats just old GM rigs.
 
Kris is rite...the ring on the front should have three slots on it, tap on a screwdriver on one of the slots and it should unscrew...Bob
 
Seems like the front side chrome ring fits into a little slot in the dash. Get your hand behind it and push the whole assembly forward (spring loaded)and it should unscrew.
 
If you have the key, and all you want to do is change the tumbler, stick a paper clip in the little hole beside the key, and push just a little, then turn the key to accories and pull, out it comes, then just reverse the procedure to replace.
 
If I remember correctly to remove tumbler part. Insert key rotate to ACC locate the small hole in the rotating part and push a paperclip in the hole and further rotate the key to the left and the tumbler will pull out. This should work real easy. If you need the rest out the front chrome piece screws out.
 
Not too many of these old trucks around here anymore. I am in the process of getting my Dad's 63 F100 back on the road after sitting a lot of years. I just bought a set of tires today. Didn't want to put 400.00 worth of tires on a 400.00 truck, but the the tires were rotten. The only thing it has going for it, is it has a remanufactured by ford engine with out many miles, and now new brakes and tires. What can go wrong? My truck still had the key Dad left in it, so I didn't need to remove my lock. Hope you get yours out ok. Stan
