Anybody seen ammo price spikes?

Me and the guys were going to shoot a few skeet today. We went to walmart to find that the super-elcheapo Fedral target loads took a $1.22 hike per box since last week. The older 1 1/8 ounce loads were $0.52 cents cheaper than the new price of the one ounce loads.

You guys may wanna run down to your local store and buy all your target ammo before the price increase if it hasnt happened yet :)
 
You should be reloading.A friend who does skeet every weekend reloads.I havent fired a factory shell in many years.
 
One ounce loads for $5.98 and ounce and and eigth for $5.47.

The ounce and an eigth are cheaper because they are old stock because they used to cost more than the one ounce.

One ounce loads were only $4.77 last week.
 
Just paid $16.99 a box of 20 for Winchester 30-30- seems like that's about the same as they've been for a while.
 
Ha ha ha no, I dont think there are enough members of this forum to adjust the demand curve. I actually graduated college with a degree in economics :)
 
I reload my shells for sporting clays. Prices on lead shot have incresed the past two years, but it's still about half of the retail price of shot shells...
 
Rifle and hand gun ammo went sky high since 2004 when we hand loaded it all except the 300 winchester mag.& 22 shells which is factory. 44 mag.480-9mm. The 300 winchester mag is one we don't have the dies for so we will soon get em. Son just finished the 45 ammo today . Has over 448 rounds done. The PPk 380 has ammo loaded in the amount of 330 rounds. 270 of the 44 mag,& l61 rounds of the 480's only 14 or 15 factory rounds for the 25,Still have 20 factory loads for the 300 mag. Have a brick of (500) rounds for the 22 rifle.
So friends and neighbors, IT PAYS TO RE-LOAD any ammo. Rifle, pistol shotgun . LOU.
 
I started handloading when a box of 12 ga cost 3.50.Used a Pioneer loading tool that cost 4.50 postpaid.Used black powder at 1.25 a pound.Used a scoop measure for powder and shot.Used a 1/2 oz of shot, worked fine.Prices are way up on ammo.I stopped loading shotshells when shot doubled in price.I have plenty of shells loaded from past years.
 
Box of 20 Weatherby 7mm mag on sale at Cabela's for 66 dollars. Still is the cheapest part of the hunt. A box of 20 big game ammo should net you 15-17 kills, however many years that is.
