I have a 2005 2500 chevy hd. I was wondering what the best gooseneck hitch is to put in? All positive and negative replies are welcomed.

B&W hitch. Turn over ball. Can change ball to 2/5/16 or 3" and add a 5th wheel plate if you need in the future.

All bolt on. easy to install.

only mod is to cut the heat shield that protects the box underside from the exhaust hump over the axle.

We charge 2.5 labor to install them and i do them in 45 minutes.

They are easy.

B&W turn-over-ball. Bolts directly to the frame of the truck. Install it and forget it.

I also have a drop-n-lock. Works okay, but the wedge that locks the ball in place is usually stuck in place from fine grains of sand and dirt. It can be a pain in the arse to get loose at times.

I just had a Pop-Up brand installed with the flip over style ball. I like it. It was the most reasonable one I could find installed when checking around. The others I looked at were Curt and Drawtight. I actually liked this one the best and it was $550 installed out the door.

If you don't want to cut a hole in your box, there is a rail mounting system. I have the rails for my fifth wheel camper. They only need bolt holes through the box and they only rise 1 inch from the box floor. I can mount eather the fifth wheel hitch or a plate and ball for goose neck.

B & W. As said earlier bolts directly to frame no drilling required. They are a few more dollars but in my opinion well worth it. The B & W also accommadates their 5th wheel adapter which is one sweet hitch.

Go with what you want, but keep in mind if you live in the rust belt, all those fancy levers,turn-overs and springs are gonna give you lots of grief.

I went with the Drop-n-Lock due to the simplicity of the design.
Drop n Lock hitches

I have a 07 2500 HD. I put the Reese rails in the bed and bolt them to the frame according to there specs. I put a fifth wheel on that I can take out in a few minutes and install the plate on for a Goose Neck. Its rated for 16000# which is more than enough for my truck. This is the third truck I've used the same rails in. I just take the rails off and reinstall them when I change trucks.
