Cockshutt Golden Eagle 40 D4 Restration

Help! I cant indentify engine other than it is a Perkins L4. Cannot find engine serial #, I have looked every where parts supplier has sugested. The numbers I come up with do not have enough digets and letters

I don't know if you are aware of it, but on the grey bar above, if you click on 'Oliver' you will see a discussion forum that includes Cockshutt owners. I'm sure someone will have an answer for you in a day or 3.
In the mean time, search for a website called 'external_link' they may or maynot have you engine details. My 540 has the Cont F162, but I have never had a tractor with such endless electrical troubles. So good luck with yours!

You can try posting on the Tractor Tales board further down the page. Ask for "Matt In". He's got more Cockshutts than the law allows, prolly can help you out.

Perkins L4 in Cockshutt is 270 CID, 3 main crank wet sleeve engine, CAV inline pump with vaccuum governor control. Not sure where engine # is, may be like later Perkins that are stamped at upper part of block along head gasket edge.
