Overhauling an H

Crap I knew I forgot something, its a RED one.
Last winter I overhauled a JD 4440, the sleeves stick pass the block and I could get in to pound them out. With this one, I won't be able to do that, looks like I'm going to be buying a sleeve puller, whats the diameter of the sleeves? Hope the end I need comes with the kit, anyone know the size I'll need?
Thanks

You can get universal sleeve pullers, I've got one at work I use all the time. I got mine from the John Deere Servicegard special tools catalog. JDG1145 is the part number. I have made more pucks to go with it for pulling other liners. I'm pretty sure John Deere also offers extra pucks for use with their engines, but the pucks aren't hard to make yourself and save some money.

I have gotten out of a pinch by extending the legs of my two leg gear puller and setting a piece of pipe or something bigger than the liner across the head and a bar to go across the pipe and pull against.

Pulling the thin sleeves is dne with a puck and ready rod. Diagrams are in the Farmall Forum Archives. Jim

Found the overhaul kit on this site, I"ll be ordering it very soon. Can someone tell me for sure what size puck I"ll need?
Thanks again for the help, I"m pretty new here and still trying to figure out my way around this site

Because we do not know which sleeves it has in it, we cannot give you an answer. Measuring the bore will give you the ID. It will originally be in fractional sizes. It needs to be a hand placed fit in the bore. .003 less than bore size. The step size needs to be .060 larger. This will assure it will not hang in the cast bore and pull only the sleeve. Some sleeves are mighty thin!! Jim
