Went and picked up this old TD this morning, The guy who owned it just give it to me for getting it out of his shop. He started to work on it years ago but lost interest in it. He has all the new parts for it but doesnt want to be bothered with it. Im going to see if I could do something with it.

Lyle what is all that white stuff you have on the ground?

How far north are you?

Did you have a normal winter up there or was it a warmer than usual?

By the way are you the ever ready rabbit. You never seem to slow down.

That will be a great project if you have all the parts to get it back together.

Gary

I'd say you'll be pushing stumps by next Tuesday, tops.

What model is it?

As 1936 said, with scrap at $250+ a ton, its a pretty "no risk" project.

Heck, Lyle. That thing looks like it's for the farmer who's lost his a$$ and don't know which way to turn. Ain't no seat or clutch levers--

oooooooooooooooooo........... I thought a td19 was from the 20th century or something. I didn't know they made horse drawn crawlers!
I suppose I should aske the world my question now. But you will win I'm sure.

I figured it was about time for another project. The last one is about half done or so, right?

I predict it'll be running Sunday morning.

Like a tractor that was on sale here a while ago. No seat or steering wheel - for the farmer who's lost his hiney, and doesn't know which way to turn.

Now Vito's got a great idea! Perfect FREE CAT diesel power for the mill! Then the 6 can go back in the FREE combine, straighten out the head, oil it up, have it all ready to do the oats that the FREE JD drill is going to plant, and then there will be horses and horsey chicks all over the place! Preferably live ones....

he white stuff is the stuff Im getting to hate more and more every year. I think they call it snow.
The winter has been warmer then normal this year, only had one bad cold stretch, minus 40 kinda stuff.
I really dont work all that hard, I just do a little something every day. Isa still have lots of time to play on the puter. lol

My dad and I (by being the person who worked on it
and operated it) owned one. They are awesome.
The 1948 we had was setup with a Bucyrus 14foot
cable operated blade. It was brutish to run for 8
hours.
Ours had a TD20 engine. They will do massive work
with massive effort. With the seat off it looks
like the steering clutches might be in question.
They are 16" diameter with IIRC 15 drive and 16
driven disks. The clutch coil spring takes
massive compression to release the snap ring. to
take it apart. Let me know if I can assist in any
drive train aspect. Jim

hanx for the offer Jim, most of the guts in the back end are out already. I still have to go and get a trailer load of parts that had been takin off. I think Im gonna have to try to find a manual for this job.

A manual is important. I do not have our manual
anymore,It went with the dozer when it was sold.
The clutches are removable with only the top off
of the bevel gears and clutch wells. The last
thing to put in is the clutch packs. They weigh
at least 250 each, probably more.
There are flange connectors on both ends of the
clutches.
Release bearings, and brake bands, pretty straight
forward. The ring and pinion are on a solid
shaft, no differential, and not difficult to set.
That is a very fixable tractor!
