The "ART" of manipulation....

Soon as I can figure out how to do distant learning classes, I'll open up for reservations :roll:

We both work, are debt free (except house payment and utilities) but still spend (over a loosely set amount) on things only when we agree to an extent.... The old bat always acts put out when I want to spend money on the tractor so, rather than puts knots on her head and do it anyway, I exercise that organ that makes men superior to women...Talking about the brain(smile Nancy and Sweetfeet) :shock:

Thought she was gonna have a heartattack when I mentioned the power steering so I just said "yea, you're prolly right, I don't need it"....

Got on the web and found something useful, practical, and within a few bucks of the PS price (3PH poop container). Already have 3 of them but told her another one would be handy and she agreed..... And let her stew on it overnight and a couple hours this morning... Shot her an email and said I found a deal on a container and was gonna pick it up after work. She writes back and says " we already 3 of them, is a 4th really gonna make any difference?" Before I could answer, I get another one that says she was talking with a farmer at work and she thinks that money would be better spent on the power steering unit and asked what I think about it... Said I could get by OK but wasn't sure how she'd handle driving it this summer for hay. .....

Just ordered my PS unit.......

1. You have a rather witty way with words (much like my husband).

2. You "ain't" gonna win this...she's MANipulating you. WGWKy is right, this'll come back and bite-chya! Revenge can be a long time coming...women are very patient, but I bet she's already got new furniture or something in mind. Maybe it is season tickets for her and YOU to attend the opera or the ballet every week, or a Caribbean cruise with YOU. Now you're going to get all nervous and jittery, won't be able to sleep, wondering WHEN it will hit and WHAT it will be!

We don't spend enough time in the house for new furniture to be interesting... She likes opera and I agreed to go with her if she can find something she likes in a certain city that I want to see..... Ain't gettin me on a boat where anyone except me is the captain unless the river bank is swimming distance.
The way to deal with you women is to head off all possible getbacks by offering to do them first. So there!!!

I've had that all figured out a long time ago. When I want to buy a tractor she will get something of equil value and all is good. Here's the rub. I always have to buy cheap because in order to make any money I have to cover both items. It really works out good because I only get the best deals.

LOL! Its not the art of manipulation its learning to get along with your spouse.

James and I have been married so long, there are many times he says what I've been thinking and vice versa (a bit scary sometimes).

The difference is I like farm equipment and probably would have told you to get some PS on that tractor asap.

Sweetfeet is right. We can be very patient if we really want to get someone. I waited four years to get after someone who was very ugly to James. I don't have many "hot buttons" but as with most women, don't mess with my family.

Been telling the wife for a couple of years that I need another utility sized tractor. She kept saying "you have 4 tractors, thats enough". Well the block for the utility is in the shop right now getting new sleeves pressed in.....and we have an early spring.....now she says..."gee maybe another one would be a good idea".

Women just think they got the upper hand. I been through the mind games plenty. My wife needs something so that means I gotta sell off something. Then all of a sudden the spending spree starts and it ain't for nothing on her need list. I play along but her stuff will soon be sold for her need list. I keep score.

Hi, Nancy. Yes, my husband and I are like that as well. We like to joke that great minds think alike.

Also like you, I like tractors... especially antiques - so it is never an issue with me. We have 5 tractors and if he wanted another, I"d have no problem with it. We both work hard and spend little - so when one of us wants something, it is just not an issue with the other (though we do discuss it first).

Like that with us too.... she's always thinkin what a good lookin hunk I am.... And I know it :shock:

I have a rule, the farm pays for the farm equipment( I work a full time job). My next rule is buy used, fix it up. The only person who frets over a purchase is me, as it turns out. But every real paycheck goes to you know who.
