Drag Harrows

I have six sections of spike drag harrows with the pole. There are chain links on the pole to connect 3 sections. If I want pull the others behind the first 3, what do you guys use to connect those sections....would pieces of chain work. These things are fairly old but I think they still have work left in them. Thanks. Brian

If you are trying to pull them so one is directly behind the other I think they'd work OK. You will probably have to experiment a little with the chain to get a length that will allow reasonable turns and you'll have to deal with the chain catching on the spikes of the first harrow unless you can figure out a way to hitch it fron the tractor to clear them. Of course if you like driving your tractor you can always drag it twice.

I think I would take a half inch rod and weld a 2 inch pipe on each end. Make six of them. Then take the outside spike off last bar of front section and the front bar of back section. slip your pipe "connecting" rods over section pipes and reinstall spikes. You will then be pulling back sections directly behind front sections but they won't get tangled when turning. In my mind I think that will work ----but---- in the field???

Ones I have have rings on the 4 corners (2"?). front rings have about8 inches of chain on the ring with a toggle (??) on the end. Toggle can be slipped in the rear ring of another for gang setup or to rings on the draw pipe....

We had a 4 section AC drag harrow. The back two were attached to the front two with about a foot of chain at the corners. Each rear one simply followed the first, but I never tried taking a sharp turn.
