About 3 hours ago,a neighbor's(1/2 mile away)shop
burned to the ground.it was just a 10x24 shack,but
it was a place to work and store tools.Poor guy lost
it all-706 diesel(his only tractor),supplies/parts inventory,LOTS of expencive
tools,welder,torch,power tools....Also lost a '76
F250 4x4 'hiboy' and a couple of cars,plus another
neighbors '61Chev C30 stock truck.Its amazing how
fast a fire will grow and spread!Makes a guy
think,It could happen to ME.Thank God the house was
saved and no animals or people were hurt.

I'm sorry to hear that! I fear that happening to me one day, and I try to keep the areas around buildings mowed tight.

Sounds like a lot of stuff, stuffed into that 10x20 shop...

Grass fire, went through a yard?

Bye for now.

I cringe every time I have to pay my insurance bill, but there are those times, like when snow took a lean-to down on the hayshed, that I'm dam glad I have it. I can only hope he had some.

Hope he had insurance. Neighbor had a breakin of two of his buildings. Stolen - several thousand dollars worth of small tools, etc. Insurance company is giving him a fight for every dollar, every item he lost. Want receipts for everything he's claiming. Much stuff he had was new or almost new. Still in the box with manuals, and receipts tucked inside, in case he needed to return for warranty reasons. He got robbed twice - once by theives, once by his in surance company.

I lost a truck to fire a while back. The insurance co. was real good about everything. All the people were friendly and they paid off well and quickly. I still have not found a replacement however.

My Father (God rest his Soul) was afraid of nothing else on this planet. But deathly afraid of fire. Came I think from old days, and grass fires when they had hardly anything to fight them. Very sorry for your neighbor and his loss.

Anyone may get an old trailer (pick-up bed trailer) or even old truck with a slide in Watertank and HIGH PRESSURE gas powered pump attached and 25-100 ft 1.5" forestry line (in sections)or at least a HD commercial rubber hose on reel ready and leave it accessible during fire season. Always have a plow or grader blade, boxblade ready for a quick hook-up especially during fire season. saves lives, property. While I am a member of the local Vol. Fire Department, it does take us a while to get there... and the first few minutes are always crucial.
