A few pics from around the yard tonight.

The wifey and I took our "tour-d-flur" around the yard tonight. The mators that we ordered never showed up in the mail. 3 packages, suposibly shipped, one arived with nothing we ordered in it, and nothing of use to us. They credited our order back to our credit card, however. We had many mator plants sprout in last years beds, and we transplanted them last week, when we gave up on waiting for the order. Plants were from last years plants from that company, perhaps they have a strange way of shipping, LOL.
Anyway the rest of the garden is doing good. Strawberries about a week out. We are only harvesting asparagus for an ocasional meal at this point in time. Some of the "trees" are 6' now. Will be picking peas first of next week. Wifey may need a ladder. Tators were planted in March and looking real good also. The early flowers have stayed brilliant far longer than usual. The pond lilys are starting to bloom along with a late swamp iris in the bog garden/X fish pond. The last pic is of a white and yellow peony, that we treasure.

Nice pictures looks like you have been getting plenty of rain. Here in north central Indiana our yards are brown and 7 counties are under a burn ban and no rain in sight for at least 4 more days.

We had some nice light rain, only 1.09" earlier this week and cool temps, 50s nights-mid 60s days. The FD weekend looking great, and then Tuesday on, till Friday, mid 90s with no rain. Crazy weather here since First of 2012 and weird plant, insect, and lower life forms (slugs, hard shelled snails, army worms) in epidemic populations. Perhaps there is something to the date of 12/21/12, and the Armegedon theory????????

Great pics, lovely garden, keep seeing raised beds, maybe I should try a couple, supposed to be able to do in small area, just kinda hard to think about when you have land, but wife really likes the looks of those

We have had raised bed gardens for near 20 yrs, Always liked the ease of maintainance, and harvesting. This year the real benifit of raised beds and #2 stone around them came to play. We have hard shelled snails and slugs in epidemic proportions this year. The stones get warm and dry early in the morning, and most of those critters die trying cross to the boxes, and then they have to climb the 10" sides of sun drenched boxes. They TOTALLY destroyed my neighbors conventional gardens this past rainy week. They resorted to spreading a line of road salt around the parimiter of their gardens to stop the invasion.

What a nice paier of 2 tone Cases ACG! Nice fleurs too! LOL where are you again? Endicott, here. Pete

Do you find with raised beds, that you need to water frequently? I have only one raised bed with flowers in it - and it seems like I have to water it every week.

You and your wife must work round the clock on yard and garden. But it is very beautiful.

We have to water on a daily basis, during the summer, unless showers move through. The soil in the beds is very light, (been composting with cow poo for years), plus we added sand to lighten it even further, so it doesn't hold moisture well. We also have unlimited water in our well, which is located in the little garden building. We also side dress with comercial fertilizer.

Sure enjoyed the pics Loren, you have alot of beauty where you live. And you put alot of hard work, you and your wife to make it successful. Thanks for posting

Hey, Sweetfeet, I was tinkering with one of my F-14s and it has a mud scraper just like the one you all found. First one I"ve ever saw.

That's what I find... when it is hot, I have to water every day or two. I have fairly black dirt and also work a lot of peat moss into it every year, but the water just drains out do to it being raised.

Thinking about working in some vermiculite next year to help it retain water better.

RegulaRog,

Congrats! Pretty cool to have IHC original, even if they are not the prettiest design. (As far as looks go, I personally like the design that is split and comes out the back of the wheels and curves around them.)

Does yours happen to still have the hoods on the top of the scraper?

If yes, (and you are willing to) please make a new post to my attention and attach a photo. Also, if you have the hoods and would be willing to give me all the dimensions - that would be fantastic. Husband may be interested in fabrication some if we know they actually looked like - because that blk/wht diagram from the parts manual leaves a lot to the imagination.

SweetFeet, sorry, I have the same thing you all have. Just the bar. And I agree, I like the other style much better.
